NGRF demands appointment of presiding officer in GSPCA

VASCO: The Niz Goenkar Revolutionary Front (NGRF) on Thursday demanded the early appointment of a judge/presiding officer at the Goa State Police Complaints Authority (GSPCA).

Speaking to media persons, NGRF General Secretary Prashant Vasta said they had also written to CM Pramod Sawant in this connection.

“Not many people are aware of the GSPCA and there needs to be more awareness for people to realise they have a platform in case they have grievances against the police department.”

“It’s been over a year since the post of the judge/presiding officer is vacant in the GSPCA. As a result, there is a backlog of complaints against the police. There is no check against illegalities and misuse of power by police officials in the absence of GSPCA presiding officer,” said Vasta.
