Speaking to mediapersons, NCP president Jose Philip D’Souza said the party does not want to divide the secular vote it possesses, but could mobilise candidates of their own in all constituencies.
“For the 2017 elections, it would be better for the people of Goa to have a mahagathbandhan of all parties in the state. But if everyone has decided to contest on their own, we too will contest on our own,” he said. He also poked holes at statements made by Congress chief Digvijay Singh who said that they had taken up to 85 per cent of NCP’s workers.
“It is only 15 per cent that they’ve taken, not more. And to them, I would like to say that if you’ve taken them, how many of them have been given tickets?” he asked.
He also questioned the law and order situation in the state, adding that elected representatives of each constituency was to be held responsible for maintaining order in the respective area.
Philip also pointed to the recently concluded legislative assembly session where he said the Chief Minister was wrong in claiming electronic ration cards as a concept of the BJP government.
“The concept of electronic ration cards was introduced when the NCP government was in power. The only thing this government did was issue a tender. You cannot claim it to be yours when we did all the work, “he said.
