CANACONA
Despite demands from the Canacona Municipal Council (CMC), the Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) was yet to suspend market inspector Yesso Dessai in connection with the melee at the council meeting on Thursday. CMC Chief Officer Raju Dessai, however, went ahead and issued him a show-cause notice on Monday.
In the show-cause notice, the CO said Yesso had taken active part in the fight between CMC Dy Chairperson Shamsunder Dessai and was asked to show-cause as to why action should not be taken against him for misbehaviour and for an act unbecoming of a public servant.
Yesso has been give three days to reply to the notice, failing which further action will be initiated against him as per the CCS rules.
The show-cause notice states that while the council meeting was in progress on Thursday, “there was a verbal dual between Yesso V Dessai and Shamsunder Dessai, when Yesso was called in the meeting hall by the chairperson for discussion on current problems in the fish market.”
“Subsequent to the discussion, there was a fight between Yesso and Shamsundar. The incident had taken place during office hours and more particularly in the meeting hall of the council.”
“Due to the incident, the entire meeting was paralysed and the council meeting had to be concluded without any progress,” stated the show-cause notice signed by Raju Dessai. A copy of the notice has been forwarded to
the DMA.
