No ground for my disqualification, Lobo says it's a misunderstanding

VASCO

Amid uncertainty in the Congress, Calangute MLA Michael Lobo has claimed there was no ground for his disqualification being sought by the Congress party and said there was “some misunderstanding”.

Speaking to reporters at Dabolim Airport on his arrival from Mumbai on Saturday afternoon, Lobo said he had been to Mumbai on a personal business visit.

"There should be no confusion because I have been to Mumbai on a purely personal business visit," said Lobo, while trying to evade the media at the airport.

"The other Congress MLAs are my colleagues and if five Congress MLAs are in Chennai, they may have gone for a meeting and I am not aware about it," said Lobo, when asked about the visit of 5 Congress MLAs to Chennai.

Lobo also denied the split in the Congress party or difference of opinion between Congress MLAs.

"There is no ground at all for my disqualification and there may have been some misunderstanding. I was not well but I left for Mumbai on Friday evening and returned to Goa today," said Lobo.

Sources said many people were surprised to hear about Lobo’s visit to Mumbai because there were reports on Friday that Lobo was ill and resting at his house.

Sources also informed that a group of 5 Congress MLAs comprising Sankalp Amonkar, Altone D’Costa, Yuri Alemao, Rodolfo Fernandes and Adv Carlos Ferreira had left for Chennai on Friday evening after the Assembly session and would return to Goa on Monday to vote in the Presidential elections.
