No major improvement over 2025

The concentration of fatalities comes against a backdrop of little change in Goa's overall road-death numbers.

The government data records 254 fatal accident cases in 2024 and 251 in 2025. For a more meaningful comparison, the January to July figures show 162 fatal cases in 2024, 143 in 2025 and 142 in 2026.

This means that fatal crashes during the comparable period have fallen sharply from 2024 levels but have remained virtually unchanged from last year, with only one fewer fatal case in 2026 compared with January-July 2025.

The figures suggest that while Goa has not seen a fresh surge in fatal crashes this year, there has also been no significant breakthrough in reducing road deaths.
