Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has said, there is "no need to panic" over the upsurge in cases and the detection of a new Omicron sub-variant JN.1 of Covid in Goa.
"All the recent Covid patients are under home isolation with mild symptoms and are being treated," Rane said after chairing a review meeting with top doctors of the Directorate of Health Services and all heads of departments of the Goa Medical College and Hospital on Wednesday.
According to State Epidemiologist, Dr Prashant Suryawanshi all the 19 who were found to have been infected by the new variant have completed their home isolation and do not figure in the State's current 19 active cases.
Meanwhile, Rane along with officials of his ministry also attended a virtual meeting with the Union Health Minister where the Centre has asked all States to remain vigilant and increase surveillance.
States have also been asked to make sure enough stocks of medicines, oxygen cylinders and concentrators, ventilators and vaccines are handy.
States have also been advised to hold mock drills every three months to assess functionality of PSA plants, Oxygen concentrators and cylinders, ventilators, etc., besides sharing best practices.
