MARGAO
The notification by South Goa District Collector Asvin Chandru, IAS to notify the 30-metre stretch of road on the NH 66 near the entrance of the Sarzora Church road at Chinchinim as no parking for all types of vehicles has gone abegging.
While the District Collector had issued the notification dated February 28, 2023, the no parking sign boards are yet to make their presence felt at the spot to date. This is despite the Collector in the notification calling for submission of an Action Taken Report including photographs of the work executed within 30 days. The notification has cautioned that not compliance with the order shall attract penal provisions under section 188 of the IPC.
The ground reality, however, has remained unchanged.
Chinchinim sarpanch Valentino Barretto informed that neither the no parking signboards have been installed nor have the enforcement agencies enforced the notification by penalizing the violators, as a result of which the notification has had no impact on the ground to date.
Valentino pointed out that the Chinchinim panchayat had knocked on the doors of the district authorities to install the no parking sign boards at the site in view of parking of vehicles at the spot.
