OLD GOA
RGP spokesperson Ajay Kholkar has lodged complaint against a Chimbel panch over threat to life, using abusive language and other charges.
In his complaint to the Old Goa police, Kholkar has stated that the panch threatened to kill him when he went to inquire about status of a demolition order.
“I had gone to the office of the Chimbel panchayat to question the secretary over the demolition order when the panch barged and threatened to kill me, while also using abusive language,” Kholkar informed reporters.
He stated that the entire incident happened in front of all the other panchas, including the sarpanch.
Kholkar demanded that the police take stern action in the matter and file FIR against the panch.
A number of RGP supporters gathered at the Old Goa police station to extend their support to Kholkar.
Reacting to the incident, St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar said Kholkar has been active in Chimbel in taking action against illegalities, due to which he was threatened by the panch.
“We are not going to keep quiet against such dadagiri and I urge Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to take strict action in the matter to ensure that such incident is not repeated,” Borkar informed.
RGP chief Manoj Parab threatened to retaliate if the panch dared to touch any Goan.
“Some of these panchas think that they can do whatever they want through their political connections, but the RGP will not get cowed down by such intimidatory tactics and will continue to target illegalities,” Parab said.
