The Goa Bachao Abhiyan (GBA) has demanded that the draft zoning plan of Pernem taluka be immediately de-notified.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, GBA convenor Sabina Martins said that the TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane should stop misleading the public by using meaningless words like “plan kept in abeyance”, when there is no provision for the same in the TCP Act.
“In the interest of the people, the government must de-notify the Pernem zoning plan,” Martins said adding ‘if the TCP Minister has to rely on the dictates of the Union Government on decisions pertaining to the zoning plan, then he should step down immediately’.
GBA urged the people of Goa to come out and reminded the TCP Minister to work for them and the State and not as a Union Territory with direct instructions from the ‘Home Ministry’.
Sabina charged that the situation is dire and probably a first in a democracy where the TCP Minister, department, board members are working against the basic planning principles and for the real estate lobbies.
