Ex-ISRO chief Dr K Sivan will preside over the 9th convocation ceremony of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) on October 13 to be held at its permanent campus at Cuncolim.
Addressing a press conference, NIT Goa director Omprakash Jaiswal said that this year, NIT Goa has initiated efforts to reach out to Alumni and seek their guidance and contributions for better academics at this Institute and as a part of this, Esha Keni, an alumna of 1st B.Tech. batch 2010-2014 has been invited as the Guest of Honour for the Convocation.
A total of 220 students will be awarded B. Tech., M. Tech, and Ph.D. degrees. Of this, 157 students will be awarded with B. Tech. degree and M. Tech. degree will be awarded to a total number of 52 students.
“Also 11 research students are going to receive Ph.D. degree, which is quite unique among the newly established NITs,” Jaiswal said.
He said that despite spatial constraints, the institute has won 90th position in the Engineering category of the nationwide NIRF assessment in 2023. The institute has attracted more than 160 companies for the campus placement of the students.
An important highlight of the recent placement is that 25 students have been selected in prominent Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), namely BPCL, BEL, C-DOT etc.
“I am glad to inform you that all our UG students have been placed in various well-known companies with a maximum pay package of 26 Lakhs per annum. Patade Mandar Manohar from B.Tech CSE was offered the highest overall CTC package of 26 LPA,” the director informed.
Also M. Tech. CSE student Meghdatta Hemant Korgaonkar was offered the highest overall CTC package of 37 LPA, while a VLSI student received the highest package of 22 LPA.
