Total active cases go up to 171; Health Officer says difficult to attribute cause

With 28 new Covid positive cases, Mapusa has once again witnessed sudden spurt in the disease on Friday even as the total active cases in town has gone up to 171.
The Health Officer of Mapusa Urban Health Centre, Dr Cheryl de Souza informed that it was difficult to attribute a cause for the sudden rise in cases but health officials were analysing the data.
Eighteen positive cases were identified in Khorlim alone – 12 at Kasarvada, Khorlim and six at Sateri, Khorlim. Besides four persons in Feira Alta, three in Ansabhat, two in Carrasvaddo and one person in Dangui Colony also tested positive.
Colvale Primary Health Centre has also been witnessing sudden spurt in Covid cases with 21 persons testing positive on Friday.
Health Officer at Colvale PHC, Dr Damodar Narvenkar informed that eight persons tested positive in Colvale while four tested positive in Tivim.
Similarly, three persons each were found positive in Revora and Pirna while one person each in Assonora, Sirsaim and Camurlim also tested positive.
A total of 12 cases were found positive under the jurisdiction of the Aldona Primary health Centre.
Health Officer at Aldona PHC Dr Pritam Naik informed that four persons tested positive in Aldona, three in Pomburpa, two in Nachinola and one each in Ucassaim, Bastora and Moira.
Siolim primary health centre registered five positive cases which include three persons from Siolim and one each in Verla-Canca and Assagao.

PANAJI: Panaji area has been witnessing a sudden spike in Covid positive cases. A total 25 persons were tested positive in the Panaji area on Friday. On Thursday, 22 Covid positive cases were reported and on Wednesday, nine cases.Cases were reported in the areas of Campal, Patto, Lake View Colony, Bhatlem, Caranzalem, Miramar and Ribander.
The persons who have been found positive are bank officials, student, government officials of various departments, a Bhelpuri stall operator and a military staff .

Mall de Goa witnesses positive cases
MAPUSA: Ten persons tested positive in the jurisdiction Candolim primary health centre, including employees from the Mall de Goa, Porvorim.
Four persons each tested positive in Candolim and Reis Magos and one each in Pilerne and Arpora which come under Candolim PHC.
Sources in the Candolim PHC informed that two security staff manning the underground parking in the mall had tested positive some days ago.
Sources further informed that another six staff, all from one store, also tested positive soon after Chaturthi and have been advised home isolation. “Most of the staff who tested positive developed symptoms of bodyache coupled with temperature,” the source revealed.
Incidentally, the Candolim health officials conducted a review of SOPs at the Mall de Goa on Thursday.
