No sale of property has happened, Kavlem Mutt clarifies

PANAJI:

Lawyers for the Kavlem Mutt on Friday said no sale of property of the Mutt has been effected and claimed that the FIR booked by the Ponda Police naming Shrimat Shivananda Saraswati Swami and two others -- Avadhut Kakodkar and Manohar Adpaikar -- is based on sale documents of 2018 which have since been declared by the courts as null and void.

Adpaikar, a lawyer by profession who addressed a press conference in the city on Friday said the publicity the FIR got through the media and social media has caused immense heartburn among the GSB community spread across the country.

He said, the alleged sale of property had been cancelled and the money that was transacted had also been reversed.

Adpaikar was accompanied by Mumbai-based senior lawyer Mand Loke who also refuted all the charges alleged against the Swami saying the documents on the basis of which the FIR was registered have been declared "null and void" by the courts.

The FIR at the Ponda police station was booked on the basis of a complaint filed by noted neurosurgeon Dr PS Ramani, alleging impersonation, forgery and fraudulent sale of property in Kavale-Ponda.

Both Adpaikar and Loke hinted that the issue could possibly have been raked up in the heat of an impending election to the managing committee of the Mutt's trust.
