Winds of instability have gripped the 11-member Raia village panchayat. Six panchayat members tabled a no-confidence motion against Sarpanch Zeila Gonsalves on Monday.

The signatories include Minguelina D’Souza, Inacinha Quadros, Minguelina Fernandes, Esmeralda Gomes, Mario D’Souza and Joaquim Fernandes.

The six members have alleged that the Sarpanch does not take the members into confidence and has ventured to take decision which are contrary to the provisions of the Panchayati Raj Act. They have also charged the Sarpanch for not taking initiative for taking up development.
