Nod for casinos' ops with 50% capacity from Nov 1

The State government on Wednesday decided to grant permissions for off-shore casinos to resume operations from November 1, subject to 50 per cent of their vessel capacity.

Speaking after the cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said, “Casinos have been granted permission to resume operations at 50 per cent of their vessel capacity. Previously, the annual fees were expected to be paid by casino managements in advance. Now, the managements will have to pay these advance fees on monthly basis.”

The Chief Minister informed that the standard operating procedures (SOPs) will be shared by the Directorate of Health Services with all casino managements shortly.

One-time supply of pricey onions through PDS

PANAJIThe Goa cabinet on Wednesday decided to procure onions, prices of which, have soared in the open market, through NAFED.The onions will be supplied through the PDS system and each ration card holding household will get a quota of three kilos.This will be a one-off arrangement due to rising onion prices in the market, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said after a cabinet meeting on Wednesday afternoon. The distribution will commence within 10 days, he added.
