One-time supply of pricey onions through PDS

The Goa cabinet on Wednesday decided to procure onions, prices of which, have soared in the open market, through NAFED.

The onions will be supplied through the PDS system and each ration card holding household will get a quota of three kilos.

This will be a one-off arrangement due to rising onion prices in the market, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said after a cabinet meeting on Wednesday afternoon.

The distribution will commence within 10 days, he added.
