Alleging that the Shiv Sena under the leadership of the current crop of leaders has no place for loyal workers, the North Goa chief of Shiv Sena, Kishore Rao, on Saturday announced his resignation from his post and the party.
Rao said that he worked hard and put all his efforts to keep Shiv Sena’s flag flying high in the State, but the current leadership of Shiv Sena in Goa had compelled him to take the decision to quit the party.
“I am leaving the party without any stigma on my character. I neither misused my post nor have any allegations against me,” Rao said, while addressing a news conference in a city hotel on Saturday.
He said, in contrast to current leadership who favoured press conferences, old timers and diehard workers like him believed in coming down on the streets and working for the welfare of the common man.
“Balasaheb’s Shiv Sena is not a party which believes in taking press conferences, but coming out on the road and fighting for the people,” he said.
He said everybody knows the current leaders who have taken the reins of Shiv Sena have been imports from the Congress and NCP.
“These leaders are Trojan Horses and will not survive for long, but instead finish the Shiv Sena in Goa,” he lashed out.
He said he was leaving the party with his head held high and without any remorse.
“I have worked for 21 years for this party. As a Shiv Sainik, I have taken up several issues affecting the common man. We came out and raised our voice only if there was injustice done to the people,” Rao said.
On his future plans, Rao said that he had an option to start a new party or join any other national party, but that he was yet to make a decision.
“At the moment, I want
to be away from these dirty politics. I may form a new group or join some other party similar to Sena’s ideology,” he said.
