Addressing a press conference at BJP headquarters in Panaji, State BJP General Secretary Sadanand Shet Tanavade stated, “Though the Party has over 4 lakh members, it doesn’t mean that all will vote for us. During the last two days, we have carried out internal assessment with the party workers as well as the candidates who lost in the polls. We will take all the required corrective measures in the days to come.”
Of the 11,11,884 registered voters in the State, BJP has 41.40 per cent members. Interestingly, of these, only 2.9 lakh voters have voted for the BJP with a total percentage of 32.9 per cent.
Meanwhile, the State BJP is all set to felicitate its National President Amit Shah as well as Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar for the Party’s success in various states across the Country including Goa. The Party expects get a crowd of over 25,000 people to attend the same. Nonetheless, BJP’s election in-charge Nitin Gadkari is also expected to attend the function.
“BJP has been achieving success in many states may it be assembly elections or elections to the local bodies under the leadership of Shah. We are the largest political party in the Country with more than 10 crore membership which has also been done under Shah’s leadership. He was instrumental in forming the government in four of the five states which went for polls recently including Goa. So we have decided to honour him during his visit to Goa on April 9 at 5 pm at Campal, Panaji”, said Tanawade.
Speaking further, he said, “Along with him we will also honour CM Manohar Parrikar. When he was told by the party’s leadership to return to Goa to form the government, he formed the coalition
government despite having only 13 elected members of the party.”
