Goan kids got their first feel of frisbee at the beginners’ clinic from national frisbee players on Friday ahead of the Usha Big Fat Goan Hat 2015 finale on Sunday, November 8.
Going with the fun spirited vibe of the tournament, the organisers picked teams for the tournament by drawing names out of hats and creating impromptu teams by mixing players.
The tournament kicked off on Saturday morning with 108 players, of which 15 per cent were Goans and six were international players while the rest were from around India.
The games on Saturday and Sunday morning are all pool stage events being held at Manderem beach on three fields.
All fields are regulation size beach ultimate and the entire tournament is also recommended by the world body for beach ultimate called BULA. Usha strongly believes in the brand ethos ‘Play’ and thereby supports and promotes a wide array of sports initiatives across the country which includes the Mawana Marathon, Ultimate Frisbee, Golf (junior and ladies), IPL cricket for deaf and football.
This collaboration along with Goa Tourism’s support is a part of Usha’s larger effort in promoting sports and active lifestyle thereby engaging with the young audiences.
The finals will be held on Sunday at Miramar beach from 4 to 6 pm. Entry is free.
