After the BJP candidate defeated his nearest rival RGP backed candidate by a wide margin in the Reis Magos ZP by-poll, Revolutionary Goans Party leader Rohan Kalangutkar said that it was not impossible to defeat the BJP in elections and people were longing for a change which will be fulfilled by the RGP.
Kalangutkar also said that the party was yet to decide on its strategy for an alliance for elections in the near future.
“It’s not difficult to defeat the BJP. We have to build our team and we will do it,” Kalangutkar said.
When questioned whether RGP was ready to tie up with other parties for the next elections, he said: “Not yet decided.”
However, he said the people of Goa were looking for a change and his party will live up to the expectations of the Goan voters.
“People want changes to happen. These changes will happen and we will do it,” Kalangutkar said.
Sainath Korgaonkar said the results indicate that RGP is gaining ground in Reis Magos, Pilerne, Sangolda and Nerul.
“Since the campaigning period was short, I could not complete all houses. Nevertheless, I managed to secure 1,101 votes without spending money,” said Korgaonkar.
On the charges against RGP of being the ‘B’ team of the BJP, he said the defection of Congress MLAs has cleared the air about which party is the ‘B’ team of the saffron party.
“With the defection of eight Congress MLAs, no one can call us the ‘B’ team anymore. We have come forward to secure our Goan identity. And we are working to win,” he reiterated.
