Nuvem Sarpanch Freda D’Sa on Thursday pointed out that the Panchayat has not issued demolition notices on the 14 families of Pateapur area of the village.
Briefing the media on Thursday at the Panchayat office, Freday further clarified that the Panchayat has issued show cause notice only to one party and not to the 14 families as is being made out by some people.
Saying that the issue of 14 structures had been pending before the current body had assumed office in 2022, Freda said the panchayat headed by her has been trying to help the people by bringing an amicable settlement to the dispute.
“Anyone can come and check the file relating to the 14 houses. Both the parties had even agreed to resolve the issue amicably. There was a proposal on consent terms, which could not be taken forward to the logical conclusion”, she said.
Saying that the complainant has filed a writ petition in the High Court, the Sarpanch said the panchayat had issued the show cause notice only to one party and not to all the 14 families. “People are being misguided that the panchayat has issued notices to all the 14 parties. The show cause notice issued by the panchayat is just a procedure. The Panchayat has not taken any action. There is a false propaganda that the Nuvem panchayat has issued demolition notices”, she said, adding that the Panchayat has tried to resolve the issue amicably between the complainant and the 14 families.
