The monsoon has exposed the work carried on by the Public Works Department, making it difficult for commuters to travel on these roads. Notifying the PWD and its competent authorities about their negligence and breach of duty, a lawyer in Goa, Adv Ajoy Tyagi has written to the principal chief engineer at PWD Altinho.
The Bainguinim resident has complained about the dilapidated condition of roads on the new Mandovi Bridge and Merces junction and the roads in Panaji and the gross negligence and breach of duty by the PWD.
Adv Ajoy Tyagi has warned the PWD to take requisite action and immediate remedial steps within the next 72 hours, failing which he would take legal actions against the department, which will burden the costs and damages for its gross failure and acts of negligence.
Explaining the technicalities Tyagi states further that the stagnated water on the riding surface of the Mandovi bridge is not only affecting the poor riding quality on the bridge but the possibility of accidents on the bridge cannot be ruled out rather it is an open invitation to an accident of fast-moving traffic on the bridge.
The copies of the letter are sent to the directorate of Municipal Corporation, executive engineer at PWD, managing director of GSIDC and the CCP commissioner.
