Vasco Railway police on Tuesday sent notices to the four main accused in connection with the stone pelting case that caused injuries to two workers and damages to a JCB utilised by Railways for double tracking works at Velsao on Sunday afternoon.
The four main accused are Congress leader Olencio Simoes, Goencho Ekvott founder member Orville Dourado, former panch Camilo D'Souza and Francis Braganza, while offences have also been booked against 10 others.
Sources in Vasco Railway Police have now suspected that the four main accused, Simoes, Dourado, D'Souza and Braganza, could be absconding.
"We have sent notices to the main accused under Section 41 A of CrPC and they are nowhere to be found even in their houses. The summons have been served through the Verna Police station and we have flashed their details,” said a source.
“There are suspicions that the main accused could be absconding and we want to enquire about the incident with these main accused so that we can get more details on the other 10 persons who were also at the site and involved in the incident reported on Sunday.”
“Details about the 10 other persons will only get clear after the four main accused are available for enquiry," said the source.
It may be recalled that the Vasco Railway Police on Monday had registered an offence against Congress leader Olencio Simoes, Goencho Ekvott founder member Orville Dourado, former Velsao panch Camilo D'Souza, Francis Braganza and 10 others on charges of pelting stones and causing injuries to two workers and damages to the JCB machinery used for railway works.
Vasco Railway PI Amarnath Passi had said the offence was registered under Sections 143, 147, 148, 324 and 427 read with 149 IPC based on a complaint by Site Engineer Dinesh Kumar.
