Now, singer Buyao applies for nod to hold meet at airport

the goan I networkrPANAJI/MARGAO rrFollowing in the footsteps of Congress, Goan singer-composer Sidhanath Buyao has now written to Dabolim airport authorities seeking permission to hold a meeting to mark the golden jubilee of Goa’s Opinion Poll on January 16, 2018. rBuyao has requested the airport authorities to allot the same place where BJP National President Amit Shah’s meeting was held on July 1. rThe letter written by Buyao to the Airport Director Negi states: “Goa is celebrating 50 years of Opinion Poll on January 16, 2018. This is a historic moment for every Goan to celebrate. On this occasion, Buyao Theatres Goem, prominent cultural organisation since 1967, wishes to hold Golden jubilee of Opinion Poll meeting at Dabolim airport with musical performances and launch of music album songs of Opinion Poll which were used to canvass against the merger.” r“Since Dabolim aiprport has historic importance to Goa’s liberation, it would be a befitting venue for this occasion. So we are approaching you to grant us permission for setting up stage, pandal, sound system, and 1000 chairs for our guests. Kindly allot us the same place where the BJP National President Amit Shah meeting was held on July 1, 2017,” states the letter. rBuyao has also asked airport authorities to make available parking space for vehicles of those who would be coming to attend the meeting. r“Also make available parking space for cars and scooters. Spontaneously there may be more crowd attending, for which we have to be prepared. On this occasion we would also invite high profile guests,” he pointed out. rIn his letter, Buyao has also stated that they would be open to idea of Airports Authority of India (AAI) joining them as a co-host. rIt may be recalled that BJP National President Amit Shah’s meeting at the airport had attracted criticism from various sections of the society including the Congress party. Following this, on July 6, GPCC Secretary Janardan Bhandari had sought permission from the Airport Director to host his wedding reception.
