After securing three seats in the recently held State Legislative Assembly elections, Goa Forward Party (GFP) now has plans spread its wings by penetrating into constituencies represented by the Opposition.
The Party has clearly stated that they will not disturb the constituencies represented by the coalition government.
Addressing a press conference at GFP Headquarters in Panaji, GFP Chief Spokesperson Trajano D'Mello said, "GFP President Vijai Sardesai has made it very clear that he would be directing office bearers and GFP ministers to begin their visits to various constituencies and spread the Party's ideology, without disturbing the constituencies whose representatives are part of the coalition government."
D'Mello also informed that many grass-root level leaders like panchas and ZPs have expressed the desire to join GFP. "The talks are in final stages. In the days to come, members of at least three panchayats are expected to join GFP", he informed.
Further stating that Sardesai has taken up the issue of GST on tiatr and drama with Chief Minister Manohar
Parrikar, D'Mello said, "They should make a representation. GFP will help them represent the case and enable CM to take up the issue with the GST council. We can also assist them in making the representation, but they should come together."
Meanwhile, he also pointed out that there are many elements trying to create confusion about the holiday for the feast of St Francis Xavier due to advent which will be celebrated on December 4, instead of December 3.
"GFP is fully aware of the sentiments of all communities not only in Goa but also abroad who make efforts to come down to Goa to revere St Francis Xavier popularly known as ‘Goemcho Saib'. I would like to inform that December 4 has already been marked as a public holiday", he said.
