Offence of rape registered

The Maina-Curtorim police have registered an offence of rape against a 31-year-old man, a resident of Maina.

According to police, the incident was reported in September when the suspect, one Allwyn (31) allegedly raped the victim after promising to marry her.

Police said the victim lodged the complaint after the suspect failed to fulfill his promise.

Upon receiving the complaint, Maina-Curtorim police registered an offence under Sections 376 and 420 of IPC. Further investigations are in progress.

PANAJI: Strapped for funds to finance infrastructure projects, the State government has decided to go in for open market borrowing to the tune of Rs 250 crore to achieve 'zero balance of financial pendancy on the works side'. The decision was taken by the Cabinet which met on Friday at the Secretariat.
