Even as more supporters came in support of St Cruz activist Elsa Dias over a ‘frivolous’ complaint against her, the Old Goa police heard all the parties including Dias, the Santa Cruz panchayat authorities and some of the complainants.
The parties were heard by Old Goa PI Satish Padwalkar on Thursday at the Old Goa police station.
Later speaking to reporters, Dias’ legal counsel Adv Melissa informed that the PI heard all the parties and that her client answered all questions related to the complaint.
“The PI will now submit report to the Tiswadi BDO,” Adv Melissa informed while adding that there is no case whatsoever against her client and there is no evidence that Dias created a law and order situation at the February gram sabha.
On her part, Dias said that the issue would not have blown out of proportion if the panchayat authorities had given her prior intimation that her proposals would not be allowed at the gram sabha.
“But, I received a letter through mail on Tuesday, two days after the gram sabha stating that the proposals have been rejected,” she added.
Meanwhile, activist Xencor Polgi informed that it is the right of every citizen to raise issues at the gram sabha, which was done by Elsa.
“If the panchayat authorities do not want to answer the queries raised, then it would be better that they resign,” Polgi added.
Another activist Tara Kerkar warned the powers that be that all activists are united in supporting Dias and they should not assume that she is alone.
Meanwhile, the activists have also condemned the smear campaign against Elsa in a Konkani song in which she is being portrayed in bad light by the singer.
