The company which has purchased the controversial Old Goa property has replied to the show-cause notice of the panchayat.
With this, all three respondents have replied to the show-cause notice and the ball is now in the Old Goa panchayat’s court to take further action in the matter.
However, going by the reply it is not going to be an easy task for the panchayat authorities as the company, Corvus Urban Infrastructures Ltd, has stated that no specific details have been provided as to violations of ASI and CRZ permissions, while terming the show-cause notice as vague.
The company has also stated that the show-cause notice may be dropped or withdrawn with immediate effect. In light of the above, all eyes will be on the Se Old Goa panchayat as it will take up the issue for next course of action, in its fortnightly meeting next week.
Meanwhile, the 25th day of the fast satyagraha saw a large number of people from St Cruz and Sanguem constituencies extending their support to the agitation.
Prominent among those who attended included former MLA Victor Gonsalves, Rudolf Fernandes, parishioners of Santa Cruz church accompanied by their parish priest and assistant parish priest, activist Arturo D’Souza, RG president Viresh Borkar along with his supporters, members of Chimbel Manch and others.
Speaking to reporters, Activist Arturo D’Souza said there is a need of a bigger participation for action to take place. “Twenty-five days have passed and no action has taken place. For that, there is a need of at least 7000 to 8000 people to participate so that it forces the government to act,” D’Souza stated.
Meanwhile, Sunday has been kept open to allow participation of people from all over the State on account of Liberation Day.
