On the last day of the year the children in Goa made Old Man which is one of the oldest traditions in Goa and keep on the roadside to say good bye and thank you for the year which has given a lot.
The outsiders who don't know our culture and traditions make noise and pass comments on social media. Only the Niz Goenkar who made the old man in their childhood days knows the value and true enjoyment and love of the last day of the year. Children went door to door singing the song “old man aila re” and later before the year end burnt the old man. There used to be Old Man competitions at various places however, this culture has nothing to do with the church authorities. It's for enjoyment which brings smiles on the faces of children.
