On a day when burglars took an off, stabbings pierce through Margao

It was relatively a burglary and desecration-free night for the Margao police on Friday, but the commercial capital was rocked by two separate stabbing incidents.

MARGAO rrIn the first case reported in the heart of the town late Friday evening, a citizen Neville Marshon was stabbed twice by a Slovakia national when he had gone out for a stroll with his pug. Marshon said the accused stabbed him on his hand and back with a pen knife after picking an argument with him when he had gone out with his dog. “When I went out with my dog as usual, this man started abusing me before stabbing me with a knife. If I cannot go out right in my backyard, where will I go, to Calangute or any other place? I have been noticing for some time that Margao has turned unsafe, but Kamat is sleeping at home”, remarked Neville, whose father was the former Chairperson of the Margao Municipal Council. rMargao police station in-charge, PI C L Patil said the Margao police has arrested the Slovakia national Will Lukrafar under section 324 of the IPC. The accused has been remanded to six days police custody. The police are also trying to verify his travel documents. rIn the second case, one Riyaz Ahmed was stabbed on his head with a sharp weapon by a group of history sheeters near the Apollo hospital along the station road. The victim was near a juice shop when three persons, including one Anwar, came on a motorcycle and assaulted Riyaz with a sharp weapon. He has sustained head injuries. rMargao PI C L Patil informed that the police has registered a non cognizable case against one Anwar, who he claimed is a history-sheeter. rIn third case of assault, one person was rushed to the hospital after being hit by his neighbour with a hammer. The accused has been arrested by the police.
