MAPUSA rGoa Suraksha Manch President Anand Shirodkar on Saturday said the party would take a strategic step in the by-elections with the sole aim of defeating deceitful BJP, which according to them, is a bigger evil than Congress in the State. r“If need arises, we will field a candidate or we may even stay away from contesting. But the decision will be a strategic one with the sole aim to defeat the BJP,” Shirodkar said. rShirodkar was addressing a news conference in Mapusa while announcing the GSM’s North Goa committee under the leadership of Nandan Sawant. rSpeaking further, Shirodkar said if by default Congress stands to gain, it won’t make a difference to GSM, as the party sees BJP as a bigger evil than the grand old party. rSaying that BJP has done worse than Congress in State, he said the RSS in Goa was firmly behind GSM in its strategy to defeat the forces of evil (BJP). r“For Manohar Parrikar and his team, politics has become a business and GSM will see that in the next election BJP is reduced from 13 to 0,” the GSM president lashed out. rHe said in the 2017 assembly elections, the people of Goa have shown that it has completely lost faith in BJP in Goa. “The fact that BJP was reduced from 21 to 13 is a clear indication and even from those 13 hardly, two or three may be real BJP karyakatas,” he said. rHe further said that GSM was building its organization and therefore appointing committees at various levels all over Goa. r“We have already appointed the State committee. Today, we are announcing the North Goa district committee and in a couple of weeks we will be doing the same in South Goa. Once we finish the task of building the organization, our focus will be on larger goal,” Shirodkar said. rNoted architect from Mapusa, Nandan Sawant was appointed as president of GSM’s North Goa District Committee, while Damodar Naik and Sunil Mitter will be the two vice presidents. rWhile Sandip Palni will be the general secretary, Abhay Samant, Vivek Navre, Mandar Ganpule and Harichandra Naik will be the secretaries. rSimilarly, Vinayak Chari will be a full-time karyakata of the party and Vishwanath Korgaonkar, Ulhas Bhivshet, Shyam Bodge, Nita Raikar, etc. will be members.
