At a meeting on Monday, GPDA president Paresh Joshi said the oil marketing companies had assured to consider major demands of the CIPDA by January 17 and had requested the All India body to withdraw the All India Bandh planned on November 16, 2016.
“Despite repeated reminders, the oil marketing companies have failed to take up the demands of the CIPDA till date and as a mark of unity to the call given by All India Petrol Dealers to observe ‘No Purchase day’, the All Goa Petrol Dealers Association as a mark of unity will not purchase any petroleum products from the oil companies on May 10,” said Joshi.
“The Central government had constituted a one man Apoorv Chandra Committee to devise a formula to resolve the issue of petrol pumps dealers’ margin and the report of the committee was accepted by the government, the oil marketing companies and All India Petrol Traders Association,” he added.
“By virtue of this report, the oil marketing companies were to review the dealers’ margin based on the increase of work load and various costs every six months.”
“The All India petrol pumps work 24x7 all throughout the year and no compensation has been provided for the working of third shifts and for working on Sundays, due to which the petrol pumps are facing heavy capital crunch as the margins are fixed by the oil marketing companies,” added Joshi.
“Our demands are very reasonable and we are to be based on the Aproov Chandra Committee report accepted by all shareholders. However, we request to the general public that while observing ‘no purchase day’ on May 10, initiative and care have been taken in Goa to ensure that regular petrol pump customers will not face any inconvenience as sufficient petroleum products will be purchased in advance,” said Joshi.
“All the petrol pumps in Goa will purchase sufficient stock in advance so that the customers are not put to hardship and we request the customers to kindly cooperative with us,” said Joshi.
