One arrested for kidnapping, confining Tivim woman in K’taka

A 34-year-old man from Davangere-Karnataka has been arrested by the Colvale police on charges of assaulting, abducting and confining a 27-year-old woman from Madel-Tivim. The victim was later rescued from Malebennur in Davangere-Karnataka.

The incident took place on January 23 and the victim's sister had filed a complaint with the police in this case. The police received information that the accused, Mustafa Abdul Kanchnagar, had taken the victim to Davangere-Karnataka.

Accordingly, a police team rescued the victim from the room of the suspect's house in Malebennur-Davangere on Monday morning. After that, Kanchnagar was brought to Colvale police station and arrestted.

According to reports, Kanchnagar was into the business of selling fruits and was living in a rented room at Tivim. The victim had befriended the accused, but he would go to her house and allegedly assault her.

Based on a complaint by the victim's family, the police had arrested the suspect twice before.

On January 23, Kanchnagar went to the victim's house, and had an argument with her and her family. He threatened her family and forcibly took the victim with him.

After going to Malebennur-Karnataka, the accused is alleged to have married the victim. Even after marriage, the suspect continued to assault her and her family, stated the victim to the police.

Colvale police is investigating the case under the supervision of Police Inspector Vijay Rane.
