DGP advises tourists to enjoy Goa without disturbing the peace, warns against lawlessness

PANAJI: Director General of Police Alok Kumar has strictly warned against any form of lawlessness in the “peaceful State.” Stating Goa has a zero-tolerance policy against anyone taking matters into their own hands, Kumar urged tourists to enjoy their holiday in Goa without disrupting peace.

“Goa is a peaceful State. Tourists should enjoy the beauty responsibly without causing any disturbances. The stakeholders should also behave responsibly,” he said with a warning, “We have zero tolerance to lawlessness.”

The warning comes after a recent incident in Sangolda, where two tourists Faiz and Arkan Shaikh assaulted a local car driver. The incident that occurred on February 6 saw their arrests soon after the video went viral that showed the tourists attacking the driver with fists and helmets after a collision with the rental bike.

To maintain peace, police patrolling has been increased along Goa’s coastal areas, he added.
