In a swift action, the Cuncolim police have nabbed one person from Davorlim and recovered Rs 49,500 in cash from his possession in connection with the Rs 2.5 lakh theft case near Demani Masjid, Cuncolim, on November 27.
The police had received a complaint from Shaikh Abdul Rauf, a resident of Demani, Cuncolim, stating that on November 27 at around 18:10 hrs, an unknown male suspect wearing a maroon T-shirt and black jeans broke open the tool kit of his scooter, bearing registration number GA-08-Y-3451, and stole a brown bag containing Rs 2.5 lakh in cash, along with documents such as his Aadhar card, driving licence, PAN card, and bank passbook.
During swift investigations, teams were formed, and through electronic surveillance, the accused was identified as Rehan Sheikh, a resident of Davorlim.
After he was apprehended and arrested for the crime, the police claimed that the accused allegedly confessed to committing the offence. The police have recovered Rs 49,500 from his possession.
Further investigation is ongoing with PSI Aditya Sawant under the guidance of PI Cuncolim Diego Gracias and the supervision of SDPO Margao Siddhant Shirodkar and overall supervision of SP South Sunita Sawant.
