Lauds The Goan for book on St Francis Xavier

Bishop of Belgaum Dr Derek Fernandes reminisced the legacy of St Francis Xavier and said the great saint sacrificed his entire life for the betterment of the people.
Bishop Fernandes lauded the efforts of The Goan team in publishing the coffee table book ‘Francis Xavier: DNA of a Saint’, to commemorate the decennial Exposition of the Sacred Relics of St Francis Xavier at Old Goa.
Speaking after going through the copy of the book at the Bishop’s House here in Belagavi, Bishop Fernandes said: “I would like to congratulate The Goan team for bringing out such a beautiful book, which is well edited and the topics are really relevant.”
“Anyone who would like to know about St Francis Xavier will find practically everything in this book,” said Bishop Fernandes, while appealing to people to have this book at their homes.
Speaking further, Bishop Fernandes said the body of St Francis Xavier has not corrupted because he was a true saint and because of his zeal, holiness, zeal for the and the salvation of human being.
A Relic of the Saint is also placed at St Xavier’s Church in Chandavar in Karwar, where Christians along with people of other faiths also flock in large number especially during the Feast to seek blessings.
Vicar General of the Diocese Fr Philip Kutty also appreciated the initiative and stated that he was impressed with the excellent book. Fr Jude Santosh and Octagenarian Priest Fr Peter Viegas were also present on the occasion.
