Vasco-da-Gama police arrested a taxi driver for allegedly kidnapping and raping a girl from Maharashtra on Friday morning.
As per the complainant, the accused Ravichandra Bhat, stopped his car on the pretext of offering to the victim, when she was walking along the highway towards Dabolim airport. When the girl refused to get in, the accused allegedly pushed her into the vehicle and raped her after driving off to an isolated place.
While the victim and the accused are sent for medical examinations to the Goa Medical College Hospital, Bambolim, the police have seized the vehicle used in the crime and are investigating further into the case.
