One booked for assault at Vasco

VASCO: A 29-year-old resident of Shanti Nagar, Vasco, has been accused of assaulting a door-to-door collection labourer.

According to Vasco Police, the victim, Kamlesh Rawal on Wednesday complained that the accused assaulted him when he had gone to collect the garbage and the monthly fees.

Police added that they have registered an offence against the accused and is investigating the case.

MAPUSA: Property worth around Rs 1 lakh was destroyed in fire to a house in Mapusa early Wednesday morning. Fire officials informed that fire broke out in a room of the house belonging to Avelino Pinto near the old Asilo Hospital in Mapusa at around 2.45 am. Furniture, documents and the roof of the house were partially destroyed in the fire, the cause of which was yet to be ascertained, fire personnel said.
