One dies in road accident at Vasco

VASCO: A 26-year-old resident of Dabolim, who was riding pillion died, while the rider of another scooter was seriously injured in a head-on collision between two scooters at Vaddem-Vasco on Thursday evening.

According to an eyewitness, Digambar Gurav (24) from Dabolim along with pillion rider, Pradeep Shirodkar was proceeding on a Dio scooter (GA-06-H-3854) from Vasco towards Chicalim, while Jeffery Wilson (40) of Vaddem was proceeding on an Aviator scooter from Chicalim towards Vasco.

The eyewitness said while the Aviator scooter was overtaking a water tanker near a hotel at Vaddem, it crashed into the Dio scooter and with the impact, Shirodkar fell on the road and Gurav and Wilson fell towards the shoulder of the road. Shirodkar came under the rear wheels of the water tanker and was crushed to death, while the Aviator rider Wilson sustained head injuries and was rushed to GMC in Bambolim.

Vasco Police said they have registered an offence and that they are investigating the case.

IIA Goa conditionally supports changes to Panaji ODP

The Indian Institute of Architects (Goa Chapter) has supported the North Goa Planning and Development Authority’s plan to introduce super-buildings, called Special Settlement (SPS) and Special Commercial (SPC) zones of 200 and 300 FAR respectively, in the Panaji ODP even as they said such a move needs to be justified with a holistic view.
