One dies in road mishap at Guirim

A 22-year-old rider was killed in a head-on collision between a bike and a car at Guirim early on Saturday morning.

Mapusa Police informed that Rohit Gawas, a resident of Dodamarg and employed at the Vodafone Gallery in Mapusa, was travelling from Panaji to Pernem, when he was hit by an oncoming car near Green Park at Guirim at around 3.50 am on Saturday.

Gawas was rushed to the North Goa District Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. After panchanama, the body was sent to GMC for post mortem.

Police booked the car driver, Elizias D’Souza from Pilerne, and later arrested him.

Police is investigating.
