One held for melting gold

PONDA

Ponda Police arrested a 35-year-old native of Bihar on charges of melting gold ornaments of a woman from Usgao on the pretext of polishing it.

Ponda Police informed that the accused, Mohammad Nahim, had come down to Mapusa on Monday evening and upon enquiring about the locality of the Hindu community reached Usgao on Tuesday morning.

Sources informed that the locals thrashed the accused after the woman raised an alarm about the incident. The locals while thrashing him destroyed the chemical he had brought to polish gold ornaments, due to which the police could not get any sample of it.

Ponda Police is further investigating the case.
