One nabbed for assault by Colva police

The Colva police nabbed a man, who is suspected to have been involved in alleged trespass and assault at a hotel in Betalbatim.

According to Colva police, the incident occurred on Wednesday evening when the suspect, one Mathew (33), allegedly trespassed into a hotel in Betalbatim and allegedly assaulted one Rajesh. Police said the suspect also threatened the victim with dire consequences. Acting on the complaint, Colva police arrested the suspect.

Meanwhile in another case, the Addl Sessions Judge granted bail to one Jofton, who was arrested in connection with his suspected involvement in a case pertaining to a fire which broke out at a restaurant in Quepem.

He was released on a bail bond of Rs 20,000 and two sureties. Meanwhile, two more suspects --- Velroz and Veli --- have moved applications for anticipatory bail fearing arrest in the case. Their anticipatory bail applications are likely to be heard later.
