Calangute Police informed that the deceased, 4-year-old girl, Aarini Gupta died due to drowning in the swimming pool of the resort.
The deceased girl had come along with her parents and other family members to Goa for a vacation, police said.
On Thursday afternoon, the family had planned to enter into the swimming pool and accordingly instructed their daughter and other children to wait in the lobby. However, the minor girl entered in the swimming pool behind her parents’ back and eventually drowned, police said.
Other persons in the pool who noticed the girl struggling brought her out of the swimming pool and rushed her to the primary health centre, Candolim, where she was declared dead on arrival.
The family of the deceased is from Shahajanpur, Uttar Pradesh and had come for vacation along with four other families including their relatives from Goa. They were supposed to return back home on May 14.
