One succumbs to injuries

MAPUSA: A pedestrian who met with an accident at Canca on Wednesday evening succumbed to injuries early Thursday morning.

Mapusa Police informed that the deceased, Divakar Singh (29), a native of UP but residing in Canca, was walking on the road at Canca near Bodhgini Temple when a two-wheeler rider, Kumar Bhavi travelling from Parra to Mapusa, knocked him down, injuring him seriously. The accident took place at around 7.30 pm.

The bike rider and the pillion were also injured.

The injured pedestrian was shifted to North Goa District Hospital and later moved to GMC Hospital, where he breathed his last at around 1 am.

The two-wheeler rider and the pillion rider who suffered minor injuries were discharged after the first aid.

Police registered an offence against the rider for rash driving and negligence in relevant sections. PSI Paresh Ramnathkar is investigating the case.
