MARGAO
A domestic LPG cylinder caught fire at the Chinese family restaurant at Curtorim on Sunday noon, giving some anxious moments.
While one of the occupant at the premises sustained minor burn injuries and shifted to the Curtorim Primary Heath Centre, the Margao fire brigade led by Fire Officer Gill D’Souza brought the fire under control.
Fortunately, the fire brigade capped the fire right on time. There were three more LPG cylinders inside the premises at the time of the incident, informed Fire Officer Gill.
“When we reached the premises at Curtorim after receiving the call, we found the LPG cylinder on fire. The cylinder was in flames and hence we decided to spray water to cap the fire”, he said.
After the fire was brought under control, the firemen dragged the LPG cylinder outside and sprayed water for the purpose of cooling. “A major tragedy was averted at Curtorim. Just imagine if the LPG had to explode in the premises”, Gill said.
He said the 37-year old cook employed in the restaurant sustained minor burn injuries.
