One-man commission begins examining cases of land grab

Likely to begin hearing from Nov-second week

Retired Bombay High Court Judge, Justice VK Jadhav is expected to commence hearing into the cases of land-grabbing from the second week of November, as he was briefed about the status of the investigation by Crime Branch’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) on land grab on Friday.  

Justice Jadhav also inspected his office in Spaces Building at Patto Plaza from where he will function during his four-month term. He was briefed about the First Information Reports (FIRs), complaints received by the SIT and the status of the probe in each case. Relevant documents will also be shared with the one-man Commission as experts from related departments will assist the Chairman during the inquiry.

“The Commission will examine the cases and documents before officially conducting hearings,” sources told The Goan. The accused, who were arrested as well as suspects are likely to be grilled by the Commission. 

On his first day in Goa on Thursday, Justice Jadhav was submitted a representation against Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar wherein the latter is accused of grabbing a property belonging to 76-year-old Rawloo Khalap.

Advocate Aires Rodrigues’ representation at the hotel reception was handed over to the Chairman upon his arrival in the evening.
