A bare 16.9 per cent of the total candidates have managed to clear the Goa Public Service Commission’s Computer based Recruitment Test (CBRT) for 208 posts in various government departments.
Officials informed that no candidate has qualified at the CBRT for a total of 48 positions. These positions being Geologist (mines), Assistant Agricultural Officer, Assistant Director Social Welfare, Assistant Director Education, Assistant Professors in Geography, Marathi, Hindi, Botany, Mathematics, Physics, Fine Art etc.
Though only 16.9 per cent of the candidates have cleared the CBRT test, officials, however, said there’s been a marked improvement in the performance of candidates who attempted this CBRT conducted by the GSPC compared to the previous tests.
As it turned out, the GPSC has received around 1,667 applications for the 208 positions, which were held at the Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda from October 9 to 11.
However, only 1075 candidates appeared for the exams and 182 were declared qualified to appear for the interview.
Around 93 positions were advertised for Directorate of Higher Education, where 1,018 candidates had applied and 590 appeared for the test. Only 93 candidates were declared successful.
In the Institute of Nursing Education, around 76 applications were received for the 19 positions of tutors. While 51 candidates finally appeared for the tests, only 14 candidates were declared successful to appear for the interview.
In the Goa Dental College, around 29 positions in nine departments were advertised for which 182 applications were received. While 125 candidates appeared for the test, only 69 were declared successful.
Other positions where candidates qualified for the interview stage are Principal (ITI), Junior Scientific Officer (Drugs), Assistant Professor Architecture, planning Officer and Medical Officer (DHS).
An official pointed out there’s been marked improvement in the performance of candidates who attempted this CBRT conducted by the commission in comparison to previous tests. “Each test is of 75 minutes duration and has 75 MCQs where one mark is awarded for the correct answer and zero marks for an incorrect answer. The syllabus which is informed to all candidates well in advance comprises English Comprehension, General Knowledge , Reasoning ability and subject core (domain area concerned)”, the official added
