Saying the dismal records prove the BJP government has failed on solar and green energy, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao has said the government is daydreaming when Goans are facing nightmares of frequent power cuts and proposed hikes in power tariffs.
Reacting to the statement by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant that Goa will be transformed into a Renewal Energy Hub by 2050, the Leader of Opposition exposed the BJP government's poor performance in producing renewable and green energy.
“With dismal past record, better not to speak about achieving 100 per cent renewable energy target with 15,000 jobs by 2050,” he said.
Yuri said facts & figures from his Legislative Assembly Questions reply reveal that Goa achieved only 33.344 MW of Solar Power Energy till November 30, 2022, to meet with a target of 358 MW set to achieve the national cumulative target of 175 GW.
“Now Chief Minister Pramod Sawant sets a new target of 150 MW in the next two years with 500 jobs which is completely unrealistic," Yuri stated.
“There is no point in providing lip service by making big announcements at events. The government must prepare an Action Plan to achieve the target of solar and renewable energy generation in the State. The government has also failed to create awareness about the same," Yuri said.
He questioned: "The government stopped the subsidy scheme for buying electric vehicles. This shows that they are not serious about green energy. If the government has money to spend on events, why they can’t give subsidies on electric vehicles?"
