The Opposition took the government to task as the promised hearing of the Mhadei water case did not come up in the Supreme Court, with the Congress and Goa Forward questioning the government’s failure to convene the House Committee to discuss the strategies to protect Mhadei.

Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao said the House Committee is defunct only after meeting once, while Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai said the House Committee launched with much fanfare has not met to discuss the strategy and the way forward to save Mhadei.

“Now wait for another date for hearing on SLP of Goa by Supreme Court on Mhadei. House Committee is Defunct after meeting just once. BJP Government clueless on Action Plan & Strategy to counter pro-active actions by Karnataka & strategic moves by Maharashtra to Divert Water”, Leader of the Opposition Yuri took to the Social media to slam the government.

Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai issued a statement saying the government is giving assurances that Goa would win the case, but does not want to convene the House Committee meeting to discuss the matter.

“I fail to  understand why the government does not want to take all parties in the loop over Mhadei. Convening of the House Committee would have helped to plan strategy to win the war on Mhadei”, Sardesai said, even as he wondered whether the BJP government is fooling the people of Goa with an eye on the 28 Lok Sabha seats at stake in Karnataka.
