Congress MLA Altone D’Costa has said that the ongoing talks between the Congress, Goa Forward party and the Revolutionary Goans Party will sort out all issues on alliance for the upcoming Zilla Panchayat within the next two days.
He said the Opposition parties are in the process of sorting out the seat-sharing understanding between the three parties in order to give good opposition candidates in the upcoming Zilla Panchayat polls.
The Quepem Congress MLA said there is nothing wrong if the Opposition parties intend to grow in the State. Similarly, he said the Congress is an old party and its workers and members feel that the party should contest majority of the seats.
“There is nothing wrong if some of the parties think they have to grow. There is also nothing wrong in the thinking of Congress members that the party should contest majority of the seats. We are trying to work out a solution. The issue will be resolved in the next two days,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Quepem MLA has alleged that attempts are being made by the ruling dispensation to distribute sports kits in Quepem constituency ahead of the upcoming ZP polls. “I would like to pose a question to the ruling dispensation – what are the people supposed to do with the sports kits when those in power in the past did not build any football grounds. It is only recently that I have initiated works on football grounds in Quepem constituency. Even some vested interests have tried to put spokes by sending the police to stop the housie,” he added.
Saying the people of Quepem constituency are wise, Altone exuded confidence that the people will take wise decisions while exercising their franchise in the December 20 ZP polls.
