Sewage odour has come back to haunt the visitors to the offices of RTO, TCP and SGPDA and Excise in the Osia commercial complex.
In fact, visitors have to walk through the sewage waters right in front of the Osia complex before making it to these government offices functioning from the commercial building.
For, sewage waters have been found overflowing at the entrance to the commercial complex, throwing up questions whether the drive undertaken by the Margao Municipal Council and the Health department couple of years ago to get the complex connected to the underground sewage line has come a cropper.
Visitors to the government offices wondered why they should face the nuisance and menace due to the overflowing sewage waters in the Osia complex and whether authorities, including the health and the Margao Municipal Council, are aware of the unhygienic conditions in the complex.
In fact, a visitor to the RTO office demanded that the Margao Municipal Council take serious note of the rampant discharge of the sewage waters right at the entrance to the complex on priority. “It is surprising that the Margao Municipality and the Health department have not stepped in to plug the flow of sewage water in the open”, the visitor said, demanding to know whether the Margao civic body and the Health officials will act.
Another visitor demanded that the authorities should find out whether the complex is connected to the underground sewage line and if not, the action that would be initiated against the erring establishments involved in discharging the sewage waters.
“Members of the public have faced enough troubles just because the government offices are located in the Osia complex. We fail to understand why the government offices functioning from the Osia complex have not been shifted to the Matanhy Administrative complex along with other departments”, another visitor wondered.
